Creating salves is much more than a business to me, it is a hobby. It is my 'craft', so as time passes I find myself wanting to better represent my product and as a result there's new labels! ![]()
I don't go about promoting myself a lot because I only make small quantities at a time. This is the most cost efficient way to do business for me, as having large amounts of salve on hand tends to be a bit of a waste when one only makes a few sales at a time. I suppose I could really get out there and push my product, but much of my sales are simply via word of mouth, and local, so I sort of guage what I need to create based on immediate demand.
I have started making massage oils again, it seemed like it was time. I had been experimenting with different scents over the last little while and found three in particular that I really liked.
Because I plan on expanding my products, I may have to move from here at webs.com to a self hosted site. I have a few on the go, but enjoyed using webs for their easy shopping cart system. It adds the shipping very well and does a good job for multiple orders of similar items. Problem is, once I have more than five items to sell, I have to upgrade, and of course, like I said, due to the fact that I am not a big business, I don't have big bucks. Self hosted works out to be cheaper for me, so it is something to consider.
The web address won't change though, it will always be at terraspiritessentials.ca ![]()
Anyhow I have a few bars of soap to get done tonight before I drop off to sleep, so I better get busy!
Blessings!

Hello Everyone!
Summer is here and so are the mosquitos! We are going through the Anti-Itch Salve like crazy! We are a family of seven living near rivers and wetlands, and of course, that's a perfect breeding ground for mosquitos!
Soaps: There have been a few adjustements to the soaps. We still use the Stephenson's soap bases, and still use only top quality ingredients (including organic as often as possible), and now we are introducing a few new molds and sizes. There will be a Venus of Willendorf mold available for any type soap that we make. This mold is based on a shape of a Goddess type figurine found that apparently dates to 24,000-22,000 BC! So within the next few days, there will be an option to choose that shape of soap. Also available will be three different guest sized soap shapes. Little dragonflies, and a Sun or Moon.
There have been some slight changes to the soaps as well. Bergamot and Ylang Ylang essential oils have been added to the Chamomile and Calendula soap, to further enhance your enjoyment of this very beautiful golden soap. Our Patchouli & Sweet Orange soap has had a name change to Sensual Patchouli to better describe it. After all, we have decided to add Clary Sage to it, and it's a nice change most definitely.
Our Honey & Oatmeal is still the same recipe, but is now called Hey Honey! (& Oatmeal)... why? Why not? ![]()
Swagat incense is on sale, our salves are undergoing some changes with the description, but the ingredients are the same. We want to make sure we stay within the laws of Health Canada when describing and marketing our salves, and ALL our products for that matter.
So, thanks for reading our blog, and thanks so much for stopping by our site!
Blessings!

Spring has definitely sprung! We have been busy getting things ready for planting in the garden. I bought some great veggie seeds from Salt Spring Seeds.
Between gardening, housework and kids, it has been a happily hectic time, It's a good thing I require little sleep!
I am looking forward to pickling cucumbers this year, and tomatoes and perhaps green beans.
We have quite a large number of mosquitos around here in the summer, so I am glad I made extra Anti-Itch salve for the family!
That's about it for now, time to take the kids outside.

Is ready!
Chickweed, Comfrey Root & Leaf, and Plantain in a Calendula Olive Oil base.Must just take a picture and it will be uploaded and ready.
I ordered some more GoldenSeal and Calendula (organic of course), as well as some new labels. I am going to try the brown labels. Hopefully they arrive soon!
Also, I am going to start with the oils now I think. I have a few nice recipes, so as soon as the new labels arrive, I will be adding them to the store. There is a nice relaxing oil, with chamomile and Ylang Ylang, a Women's Balancing oil to help with our Moon Time, and a few others.
Blessings!

Well, here we are, open for business. Today was spent making new salve which will be added to the products tomorrow. Wound Healing Salve with St.John's Wort, Goldenseal, Plantain, and Myrrh. All the ingredients have specific healing, antiseptic and anti-biotical type properties. Perfect for cuts, sores blisters etc. Some salves, such as those including Arnica or Comfrey, should not be used open or broken skin. Such is not the case with this salve. It can be applied to a clean, dry wound to slow bleeding, and speed healing while helping to keep out infection. (disclaimer - of course these statements have not been endorsed by the Health Authorities)
Tomorrow is a St.John/Comfrey salve for bruises, sprains, inflammation of the skin, rashes etc. (not to be used on open or broken skin). I hope to get the Anti-Itch one as well.
It's been a bit of a slow start for 2009 because we had a new baby boy at the end of December, and combined with our 19 month old, it has been quite a challenge getting things done. However, I have adjusted to the sleep deprivationand am back on top of things. Now, if only I could get those teenagers of mine to help with housework more often!
